Meghan Hinds And Dani Trippany Combine For 41 Points To Lead PC To Win At West Virginia

Morgantown, W.Va. - Senior guard Meghan Hinds (Perrysburg, Ohio) and junior center Dani Trippany (Massena, N.Y.) combined for 41 points to help lead the Providence College women's basketball team to a 74-64 win in the BIG EAST season opener Wednesday night.

Hinds came off the bench to score a game high 21 points while Trippany scored a career high 20 points on 10-for-14 shooting from the floor to even the Friars overall record at 3-3 and give them a 1-0 record in league play. West Virginia is also 3-3 on the season and 0-1 in the conference.

PC held a narrow 27-26 lead at halftime, but shot a sizzling 53.3% in the second half to break open the game on the way to the 10-point victory.

Joining Hinds and Trippany in double figures were junior forward Monika Roberts (Pittsburg, Calif.) who scored 17 points and sophomore guard Chrissy Vozab (Amenia, N.Y.) who turned in her second double-double of the season with 10 points and a career best 12 rebounds.

Alia Clark led the Mountaineers with 14 points as West Virginia shot just 30.3% (20-66) in the game. Christin Annie had 12 points with Brandi Batch adding 11 and Val Zona chipping in 10 for WVU.

The Friars now break for exams and return to action on December 27th when they play in the Doubletree/Tulane Classic in New Orleans. PC opens versus Tulane University on the 27th and then faces Lehigh University on December 28th.
