Women's Basketball Falls To No. 18 Notre Dame, 79-43

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The No. 18 Notre Dame women's basketball team needed a big second half to shake an under-manned Providence College squad in BIG EAST play on December 8 in Providence, R.I. The Irish, who led by just eight points at halftime, outscored the Friars, 44-16, in the second half to take a 79-43 victory.

Natailie Anchonwa came off the bench to score a team-high 13 points, while fellow reserve Erica Solomon posted a double-double on 11 points and 10 rebounds. Skylar Diggins contributed 10 points, five rebounds and three assists for the Irish.

Providence senior Mi-Khida Hankins (Baltimore, Md.) tallied a game-high 16 points and recorded nine rebounds and three assists in the loss. Senior Teya Wright (Paterson, N.J.) added nine points and five rebounds.

The Friars committed a season-high 28 turnovers in the game, including 17 in the decisive second half.

The Friars take a break for final exams and return to action on Wednesday, December 22 against Oakland. Tip-off is scheduled for Noon at Alumni Hall/Mullaney Gymnasium in Providence, R.I., and will coincide with the 4th Annual Project Providence.
