Women's Basketball Falls To Samford In OT, 73-72

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Samford defeated the Providence College Friars, 73-72, in women's college basketball action on Saturday, November 27 in the consolation game of the 15th Annual Lady Tiger Classic at Memphis, Tenn.

The Friars were hurt by the tough play of Samford's Mesha Tisdel who scored a tournament high 26 points off a 12-of-21 shooting effort from the field.

Providence entered the half with a 32-28 lead, but were not able to build on that in the second half as Samford tied the game in the closing seconds and sent the contest into overtime.

Monika Roberts, who was named to the all-tournament team, led the Friars with a double-double. Roberts scored 16 points and grabbed a game-high 18 rebounds.

The Friars (1-2) will return to action on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at the University of Michigan.
