WILMINGTON, N.C. - The Providence College women's basketball team defeated Miami (OH), 75-59, in the final day of play at the UNCW Hampton Inn Thanksgiving Classic in Wilmington, N.C. Sophomore Jovana `Yoyo' Nogic (Lisbon, Portugal) led four Friars in double figures with a game-high 15 points. The Friars move to 6-0 on the season, while Miami (OH) drops to 2-4 overall. The Friars' 6-0 start is the best since the 2006-07 campaign.

The Friars held a 40-29 lead at halftime as Maddie Jolin (Rehoboth, Mass.), Allegra Botteghi (Bologna, Italy) and Sarah Beal (Matthews, N.C.) combined for 30 points. Botteghi scored seven of Providence's first nine points in the first quarter to finish the half with 10, while Jolin added 11 points and Beal chipped in nine. The trio shot 12-20 (.600) from the field, including a perfect 4-4 performance by Botteghi.

Providence led by just three points (17-14) after the first quarter, but the Friars' lead would increase to as many as 13 (40-27) with 39-seconds remaining in the half. Providence held Miami to just one field goal in the final six minutes of the half, and five points overall.

Providence started the third quarter on a 12-0 run to mount a 52-29 lead with 5:50 remaining on the clock. The Friars took their largest lead of the game (61-35) with 1:33 left on the clock, and out-scored the RedHawks, 21-11, overall in the quarter.

Providence maintained control the remainder of the game, despite being out-scored 19-14 in the fourth quarter.

Botteghi finished the afternoon with her first double-double of the season on 14 points and 12 rebounds. She was 6-7 from the field and also recorded one assist and one steal. Beal had another impressive line for Providence, as she recorded 13 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals. Jolin, held scoreless in the second half, completed the day with 11 points, three rebounds, two assists and one steal.

The RedHawks were led by Kristen Levering and Lauren Dickerson, who each tallied 11 points. Molly McDonagh added seven points and a team-high eight rebounds.

Providence returns to action at the inaugural Ocean State Tip-Off Tournament on Dec. 3-4. The Friars will face Bryant in the tournament opener on Saturday, Dec. 3. On Dec. 4, Providence will take on Brown or Rhode Island in the consolation (1:00 p.m.) or championship game (3:00 p.m.). This year's tournament will be hosted by Brown University and all games will be played at the Pizzitola Sports Center in Providence, R.I.
