PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College women's basketball team fell to No. 21/19 DePaul, 91-68, on Friday, Feb. 19 in Providence, R.I. Freshman guard Jovana `Yoyo' Nogic (Lisbon, Portugal) reached the 20-point plateau for the second time this season with 20 points. She hit her first six shots of the game and finished 9-11 from the field.

DePaul opened the game on a 12-0 run before Nogic hit the Friars' first bucket with 6:25 remaining in the first quarter. Providence cut the deficit to seven (23-16) with 1:18 on the clock as Nogic hit a three-pointer off a feed from Allegra Botteghi (Bologna, Italy). Chanise Jenkins closed the scoring with a lay-up for DePaul and the Blue Demons took a 25-19 lead after the first 10 minutes of play.

DePaul held an 11-point advantage with 8:14 remaining in the second quarter (31-20). Providence answered the call with a 13-7 scoring run to cut the deficit to six (38-32) with 1:48 on the clock. However, DePaul closed the half with 6-2 edge in scoring and went into the locker room with a 44-34 lead.

Nogic finished the first half 6-7 from the field, including 2-2 from three-point territory, for 14 points. Megan Podkowa led DePaul with 12 points and also shot 6-7 from the field.

The Blue Demons opened the third quarter on a 13-3 run and took a 57-37 lead with 6:09 on the clock. DePaul maintained control in the quarter, eventually pushing out to its largest lead (73-47) with 1:25 remaining.

DePaul maintained a comfortable lead in the fourth quarter, earning its largest margin of the game (84-54) with 7:02 showing on the clock. Providence closed the gap to 20 (86-66) at the 3:23 mark, but it was as close as PC could get down the stretch.

Botteghi finished the night with a career-high 17 points, while freshman Maddie Jolin (Rehoboth, Mass.) chipped in 15 points and a team-high five boards and three assists.

The Friars' bench out-scored the Blue Demon's bench, 43-24. DePaul was able to take control of the game with a 41-22 advantage in rebounding, which translated into an 18-4 edge in second-chance points.

Podkowa and Chanise Jenkins led DePaul with 21 points each. Jessica January contributed 12 points.

The Friars return to action on Sunday, Feb. 21 against BIG EAST foe Marquette. The game will be played at Alumni Hall/Mullaney Gymnasium in Providence, R.I. and is scheduled to tip-off at 1:00 p.m. Prior to tip-off, the program will honor senior Evi Iiskola (Espoo, Finland), who will be playing in her final game at Alumni Hall. The ceremony is scheduled for approximately 12:40 p.m.
