JAMAICA, N.Y. - The Providence College women's basketball team defeated St. John's, 62-51, on February 6, at Alumni Hall in Jamaica, New York. The victory snapped a five-game losing streak for the Friars, who improve to 9-12 overall, and 3-7 in the BIG EAST Conference.

Freshman forward Jessica Simmonds (South Orange, N.J.) recorded her first collegiate double-double, with 10 points and a career-high 10 rebounds. Freshman Keisha Blackwell (Baltimore, Md.) matched a career-high in scoring with 11 points to lead the Friars, and freshman Michal Epstein (Rehovot, Israel) tallied a career and game-high six assists. Graduate student Dani Trippany (Massena, N.Y.) narrowly missed her fourth double-double of the season, finishing with nine points and 10 rebounds.

Providence will host Syracuse on Saturday, February 9, at Alumni Hall in Providence, Rhode Island at 1:00 p.m.
