Providence vs. Seton Hall Game Notes
THE FRIARS AT A GLANCE:
The Providence Friars are 6-8 overall and 2-4
in the BIG EAST after losing their last three contests. PC lost at home
against Rutgers on Saturday, 70-66, at Boston College on Thursday, 94-73 and at
Connecticut last Tuesday, 126-48. Prior to those three games, PC had won three
straight games - including an 86-70 win over Boston University (12/28), a 91-78
BIG EAST victory over Syracuse (12/31) and a 75-70 win over Pittsburgh (1/3).
THE PC-SETON HALL SERIES:
The Friars lead the 19-year series with Seton
Hall, 19-12. Providence won last year's meeting, 66-62 in Alumni Hall. The
Pirate's last victory was March 3, 1996 at the BIG EAST Championship - a 69-67
win. Seton Hall also won the last meeting in Walsh Gymnasium which was a 75-56
victory on January 9, 1996. (That game was played without All-America Honorable
Mention - Nadine Malcolm).
HEAD COACH JIM JABIR:
The Friars are coached by Jim Jabir who begins
his second year with Providence. Last season Jabir directed the Friars to a 13-14
overall tally. Jabir spent the previous six seasons at Marquette and has an
overall 11-year record of 177-142. For more detailed information on Jabir -

CHATTEN STILL SIDELINED:
Senior Kerri Chatten has missed the last three
games and will be sidelined another 7-10 days. The All-BIG EAST Candidate
twisted her left ankle during the last :11 seconds of the Pittsburgh game (1/3).
In the game, she tallied 22 points and pulled down 11 boards in PC's 75-70
victory. The Friars are 0-3 without Chatten in the lineup.
WHEELER COMES OFF DISABLED LIST SHOOTING THE THREES:
In her first game back
after being sidelined since Dec. 22, 1997, senior captain Julie Wheeler sank four
three-pointers as PC fell short in a comeback effort against Rutgers - losing
70-66. Wheeler was 4-8 from behind the arc in 25 minutes of action.
