    Gombotz Earns Starting Role at Providence College

    PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Freshman forward Jennifer Gombotz (Southington, CT) has earned a starting role for the Providence College Friar Basketball Team. Providence is 3-3 overall and heads to Miami for the BIG EAST opener on December 6.

    Gombotz is leading the squad in scoring with 13.5 points per game which includes a season high of 32 points in the final round of the San Juan Shootout vs. Detroit last weekend. The Friars finished the tournament in third place with their only loss coming at the hands of eighth ranked Illinois.

    Against Detroit, the forward was 15-23 from the floor and grabbed seven rebounds and five steals in 32 minutes of action.

    Gombotz was recently recognized as the Connecticut Athlete of the Year after a superb high school career at Southington High. She was a three-time First Team All-Conference in three different sports.
