Jennifer Davis Named Big East Scholar-Athlete
Providence, R.I. -- The BIG EAST Conference today announced the 26
scholar athletes from its 13 member schools who will receive
$2,000 each toward graduate studies.
Jennifer Davis, Providence College's first ever athlete to
graduate with a perfect 4.0 GPA, has been chosen as a recipient
and will use the scholarship at the University of
Chicago-Illinois.
A Sociology major, Davis already has received a tuition-only
scholarship to eventually obtain a doctorate degree.
While at Providence, Davis was a captain for the Lady Friars as a
senior. She holds two PC records as she shattered the Rookie
three-point records in her first year and also broke a BIG EAST

In her career, she averaged 6.9 points in 76 games. As a
sophomore, she played in only six games before being sidelined
with a stress fracture. She tallied a career high of 27 points
(2/9/94) against Georgetown which came in her freshman season.
She also tallied a record setting eight three pointers against
Rutgers that season (11/28/93).
She was named to the GTE CoSIDA District I Academic All-America
Second Team in 1997.
