PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's and women's cross country Head Coach Ray Treacy was named NCAA Northeast District Men's and Women's Coach of the Year. Treacy was the only head coach in the country to earn the men's and the women's District Coach of the Year honors.

It is the ninth time Treacy has won the Women's Northeast District Coach of the Year honor and the fifth time he has earned the Men's Northeast District Coach of the Year accolade.

Treacy led his men's team to its fourth consecutive appearance at the NCAA Championship this year where the squad placed 10th on Nov. 23 in Lawrence, Kan. The men's team qualified for the NCAA Championship by winning the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship on Nov. 14. In addition to winning the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship, Treacy's men's team won its league leading 13th BIG EAST title and its 19th New England Championship. After leading the men's team to its 13th BIG EAST title, Treacy was named BIG EAST Men's Coach of the Year.

On the women's side, the Friars finished 14th of 31 teams at the NCAA Championship on Nov. 23. It was the team's 10th consecutive appearance at the NCAA Championship. Like the men's team, the women qualified for the NCAA Championship by winning the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship on Nov. 14. The women's team also won its eighth New England Championship on Oct. 16.

Treacy, who is in his 15th year as the head coach of the PC cross country and track teams, has coached 88 All-American athletes at Providence College. This fall he had three athletes earn All-America accolades at the NCAA Championship.
