TERRE HAUTE, IND. - Three members of the Providence College men's cross country team competed at the NCAA Men's Cross Country Championship on November 21 in Terre Haute, Indiana. Senior Martin Fagan (Mullingar, Ireland) led all Friar runners with a 16th-place finish. For his efforts, Fagan earned All-America honors for the first time in his career at Providence. He finished the race in a time of 30:00.

Also competing for Providence on the men's side were sophomores Max Smith (Dunedin, New Zealand) and Ahmed Haji (West Hartford, Conn.). Smith finished 71st overall in a time of 30:44. Haji placed 236th in a time of 32:33. It marked the first time in his career that Smith competed in the NCAA Championships. It was Haji's second career appearance. In 2004, he finished 125th.

Wisconsin's Simon Bairu captured the NCAA individual title with a time of 29:15. Wisconsin also captured the team title with 37 points. Arkansas and Notre Dame finished second and third, respectively.
