Men's and Women's Cross Country Prepare for NCAA Northeast Regionals on Sat.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's and women's cross country teams will run in the NCAA Northeast Regional Division I Cross Country Meet on Saturday, Nov. 14 at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y. The women's race will begin at 10:00 a.m. and the men's race will commence at 10:45. The top two teams in the men's and women's race will qualify for the NCAA Cross Country Championship on Nov. 23 in Lawrence, Kan.

The men's team, which won its 13th BIG EAST title on Oct. 30, is led by senior Ben Noad (Bristol, England). Noad has won all four races he has run this year, including the Roy Griak Invitational, the New England Championship and the BIG EAST Championship. The men's team has won all five of its races this season and is currently ranked eighth in the country. The Friars will be trying to qualify for their fourth consecutive appearance at the NCAA Cross Country Championship. Last year, the Friars won the NCAA Northeast Regional meet at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass.

The women's team, which is ranked 10th in the country, is led by senior Sarah Dupre (Kingston, Ontario). Dupre is undefeated in all five races the team has run this season. Dupre has paced the Friars to victory in four of those races. Her individual wins include the Roy Griak Invitational, the New England Championship and the BIG EAST Championship. On Saturday, the women's team will be trying to earn its 10th consecutive appearance at the NCAA Cross Country Championship. Last year, the women's team placed second at the NCAA Northeast Regional Meet at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass.
