The Providence College men's cross country team will send eight competitors to the Central Connecticut State University Mini Meet in New Britain, Conn. to compete on Friday, Oct. 25. The men's 5k race will begin at 3:30 p.m. at the Stanley Quarter Park.
A group of four sophomores and four freshmen will make up the eight person team that will compete at the meet. Sophomores Julian Oakley (Tauranga, New Zealand), Stephen Robertson (Wakefield, Mass.), Brendan Sullivan (Foxboro, Mass.) and Joseph Vercollone (Pembroke, Mass.) will lead freshmen Hugh Armstrong (Balina, County Mayo, Ireland), Jake Feinstein (Sandy Hook, Conn.), Billy Bragg (Middletown, N.J.) and Jonathan Estrada (Los Angeles, Calif.) against a field of 13 other teams.
Providence will withhold its top eight runners as the team prepares for the BIG EAST Championships that will take place in Kenosha, Wis. on Saturday, Nov. 2. The team will use the Central Connecticut Meet to help determine the ninth runner that will make up the team to compete in Wisconsin at the start of November.
