The Providence College men's and women's cross country teams are ranked in the latest USTFCCCA Division I National Cross Country Polls. The polls were released on Tuesday, October 9. The Friar men's team is ranked 14th nationally, while the Friar women sit at 18th in the nation.
The PC men accumulated 218 points in the rankings and is one of six BIG EAST Conference teams among the top-30. Notre Dame leads all BIG EAST member institutions with a seventh place showing in the poll (309 points). Georgetown is 12th (238 points), followed by Providence (14th, 218 points), Louisville (17th, 178 points), Villanova (22nd, 109 points) and Syracuse (28th, 46 points). Oregon is the top team in the nation on the men's side with 385 points and a total of 10 first-place votes.
The Friar women are the highest ranked BIG EAST team at No. 18 (145 points). West Virginia (130 points) and Georgetown (111 points) are the only other BIG EAST teams in the poll at No. 21 and No. 22, respectively. Stanford tops the poll with 387 points and 10 first-place votes.
Providence cross country returns to action at Pre Nationals in Terre Haute, Ind. on Saturday, October 13.
