Adam Sutton Earns Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Honors
April 24, 2002 PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Providence College junior Adam Sutton (Preston, England) has earned United States Cross Country Coaches Association 2001 Men's NCAA Division 1 All-Academic Cross Country Team honors. Also, the Providence College men's cross country squad was one of 62 teams to receive 2001 United States Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Team accolades. The PC men's squad has a team GPA of 3.02. Sutton, who has a 3.67 cumulative GPA, was one of PC's top runner this season. He scored in all five cross country races he ran in 2001, including the New England Championship and the NCAA Championship. At the New England Championship, he placed second and earned All-New England honors. In his top race of the season, Sutton placed 24th overall and was PC's first finisher at the NCAA Cross Country Championship in Greenville, S.C. For his efforts at the NCAA Championship, he earned All-America accolades. The Providence men's cross country team had another successful season in 2001. The team won the New England Championship and the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship and finished third at the BIG EAST Championship and placed 10th at the NCAA Championship.
