Feb. 15, 2018

NEW ORLEANS, LA. – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the annual NCAA All-Academic honors for the Cross Country season on Feb. 9.  Both the men’s and women’s cross country teams earned All-Academic honors based on the cumulative team grade point average. For the Fall semester, the women’s team earned a GPA of 3.33 while the men’s team had a GPA of 3.11. Providence annually earns All-Academic honors. In 2013, the women’s team earned the NCAA Division 1 Scholar Team of the Year for having the highest team GPA in the country.

Graduate student Catarina Rocha (Peabody, Mass.) and senior Millie Paladino (Morgantown, W. Va.) both earned individual All-Academic honors. In order to qualify for the honor, athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 and finish in the top-25 (or 10 percent) at regionals or as an All-American in the national meet.
