Providence Men's Cross Country Claims Victory At Ted Owen Invitational
Sept. 26, 2009 NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - Providence College men's cross country squad claimed first-place at the Ted Owen Invitational hosted by Central Connecticut State University at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain, Connecticut on Saturday, September 26. The team scored a perfect score of 15 points over Central Connecticut State University with 47 points and Bryant University with 78 points. The Friars took the top-five places in the race, led by Sophomore Matt Terry (Danbury, Conn.), who claimed the individual title in a time of 25:36.82. Junior Stephen Hankinson (Summit, N.J.) placed second (26:11.16), followed closely by freshman Ahmed Ali (Boston, Mass.) in a time of 26:11.92 for third place. Fourth and fifth places went to freshman Patrick Desabato (Narberth, Penn.) and sophomore Corey Brunelle (Woonsocket, R.I.) who finished in 26:14.45 and 26:26.87, respectively. The next race for the Friars is the Notre Dame Invitational on Friday, October 2 in South Bend, Indiana. The Women will race at 4:15 pm and men at 5pm, where the top-8 individuals for PC's men and women team will compete.
