Men's Cross Country Captures Roy Griak Invitational
Sept. 23, 2000 MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The 14th-ranked Providence College men's cross country team scored 104 points and defeated 30 schools to capture the prestigious Roy Griak Invitational at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minn., on Saturday, September 23. The Friars were led by two-time All-American senior Keith Kelly (Drogheda, Ireland) who won the race in a time of 24:12. Also scoring for the Friars were junior Hamish Thorpe of Auckland, New Zealand (sixth - 24:39), junior Dermot Galvin of Kilrush, Ireland (25th - 25:01), sophomore Adam Sutton of Preston, England (33rd - 25:06) and junior Paul Reilly of (Loughrea, Ireland). The Friars return to action on October 13 at the New England Championships at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass.
