DURHAM, N.H. - The men's cross country team opened its season with three victories defeating New Hampshire, Boston College, and Georgia College. The team was led by Junior Hayden McLaren (Christchurch, New Zealand), who won the race in 25:36.00. After the race, McLaren said, "It was a good way to kick off but there is still a long season ahead of us. We have to keep training hard but this race is good indication of where we are at." Senior Richard Yeates (Dublin, Ireland) placed second, coming through in a time of 25:37.00. Juniors, Michael Anderson (Ajax, Ontario) and Tom Webb (Williston, Vt.) finished fourth and sixth respectively. Senior Ben Saviet (Sutton, Mass.) had a great start to his senior-year placing tenth overall and rounding out the top-five scorers on the Friars squad.

The next race for the Friars is Saturday, September 20, when the they compete at the Iona Meet of Champions at Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, N.Y.
