PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Former Providence College track star Mark Carroll '95 of Ireland ran the 5,000 meter preliminaries on Wednesday, August 25 at the Olympic Stadium in Athens, Greece. Carroll, who was competing in his second Olympics, finished 15th (13:46.81) in Round 1, Heat 2 of the 5,000. He will not advance to finals as only the top five runners in each preliminary and the next five fastest runners will compete in the finals.

The final PC runner to compete in the Olympics will be former Friar Marie McMahon-Davenport '98 of Ireland. Davenport, who is competing in her second Olympic Games, will run the 10,000 meter finals on Friday, August 27 in the Olympic Stadium at 2:35 EDT.
