PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's and women's outdoor track teams will send nine athletes to the NCAA Outdoor Track East Preliminary Championships in Jacksonville, Fla. on Thursday, May 29 through Saturday, May 31.
The Friar men's team will send six athletes, while the women's team will send three. On the men's side, sophomores Harvey Dixon (Aldershot, England) and Julian Oakley (Tauranga, New Zealand) will compete in the 1500 meter run, having both qualified earlier in the season at the Stanford Invitational (April 4) with times of 3:45.30 and 3:44.68, respectively. Graduate student Julian Saad (Trumbull, Conn.) will compete in the 5,000 meter run, also having qualified at the Stanford Invitational with a time of 14:01.90. Rounding out the events for the men, competing in the 10,000 meter run, will be juniors Benjamin Connor (Derby, England), Brian Doyle (Swansea, Mass.), and Shane Quinn (Waterford, Ireland).
