Carleo Shines At Brown Springtime Invitational

PROVIDENCE, R.I. –
The Providence College Track and Field teams competed at the Brown Springtime Invitational on Sunday, April 30.

Nick Carleo (Newburyport, Mass.) highlighted the meet for Providence with his performance in the mile. After being paced by teammates Michael O’Leary (Melville, N.Y.) and Marcus Karamanolis (Wellington, New Zealand) through 1200 meters, Carleo finished hard to win in a time of 4:04.54. The time converts to a 3:46.42 in the 1,500 meters, which ranks 51st in the East Region.

The men also had individual winners in both the men’s 3,000 meters and the men’s 3,000-meter steeplechase. Austin Scola (Medfield, Mass.) pulled away from the rest of the field with 600 meters remaining to win the 3,000 in a personal best time of 8:34.43.

O’Leary, in his first 3,000-meter steeplechase, won in a time of 9:29.45.

Molly Keating (Rehoboth, Mass.) had the top performance of the day for the women as she finished fifth in the 800 meters with a season best time of 2:17.40.

Providence will next compete at the BIG EAST Championships on May 12-13 at Villanova, Penn.

OTHER RESULTS:

Peter Rindfuss (Hamburg, N.Y.) finished fifth in the 3,000 meters with a personal best time of 8:42.57

James Campbell (Cumberland, Maine) and Jared Grossi (Warwick, R.I.) finished seventh and eighth in the 400 meters. Campbell ran a time of 51.00 while Grossi ran a time of 51.01.

Alexandra DeCicco (Sachem, N.Y.) finished seventh in the mile with a time of 5:08.31.
