Providence, R.I. - Junior Laura Nagel (Napier, New Zealand) of the Providence College outdoor track and field team was named BIG EAST Women's Track Athlete of the Week on Tuesday, April 9. Nagel ran a personal best in the 5000 meter run at the Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, Va. on Friday, April 5.
Nagel won the 5000 meter with a time of 15:50.36. Her time broke both the stadium and meet records. Following her performance over the weekend, Nagel is now ranked sixth in the country.
Nagel and the Friars are back in action on Saturday, April 13, when Providence competes at the Brown Invitational in Providence, R.I.
