PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Providence College junior Adam Sutton (Preston, England) was named ECAC Male Track Athlete of the Week on April 2.

Sutton received his ECAC Male Track Athlete of the Week honor after capturing the 5,000-meter title at the prestigious Raleigh Relays at NC State in Raleigh, N.C. on March 30. Sutton won the race in a time of 14:01.26 and qualified provisionally for the NCAA Outdoor Track Championship on May 29 - June 1 in Baton Rouge, La.

Sutton, who did not compete during the 2002 indoor track season, had an impressive cross country season. He earned All-America honors after finishing 24th at the NCAA Cross Country Championship in Greenville, S.C. on November 19, 2001. Sutton also earned All-New England accolades when he placed second at the New England Cross Country Championship on October 12.

Sutton is the son of Brent and Karen Sutton.
