PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College indoor track athletes Mary Cullen (Sligo, Ireland) and Max Smith (Dunedin, New Zealand) were named to the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field All-America Team. The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association released the All-America Team this week.

Cullen earned the honor in the 3,000 meters after finishing second in the event at the 2006 NCAA Indoor Track Championship in Fayetteville, Ark. on March 11. Cullen finished the race in a time of 9:10.22. Prior to the NCAA Championship, Cullen ran the nation's fastest indoor times this season in the 3,000 meters, 5,000 meters and the mile. She claimed BIG EAST individual titles 3,000 meters (9:06.26) and the 5,000 meters (15:58.78) at the 2006 BIG EAST Championship on February 18-19. Cullen's All-America honor marks the first of her career for indoor track. She is a two-time All-American in cross country (2002, 2003) and has earned All-America status twice in outdoor track (10,000 meters - 2005 and 5,000 meters - 2003).

Smith earns All-America honors for the first time in his career with his performance in the mile at the 2006 NCAA Indoor Track Championship in Fayetteville, Ark. on March 11. Smith finished the event sixth in a time of 4:14.83. On February 19, Smith earned the BIG EAST individual title in the mile at the BIG EAST Indoor Track Championship with a first-place finish in a time of 4:03.47.
