FAYETTEVILLE, ARK. - Three members of the Providence College indoor track team began competition at the 2006 NCAA Indoor Track Championship at the Randal Tyson Indoor Track in Fayetteville, Ark. on Friday, March 10.

On the men's side, sophomore Max Smith (Dunedin, New Zealand) finished fifth in his heat (ninth overall) in the mile and qualified for the final on Saturday, March 11. Smith finished the prelims in a time of 4:03.12.

Senior Mary Cullen (Sligo, Ireland) did not finish the 5,000 meter event on the women's side. Cullen entered the NCAA Championship having run the fastest time in the country in the event earlier in the 2005-06 indoor season. Cullen is scheduled to compete in the 3,000 meters on Saturday, March 11.

Junior Meghan Owen (Danielson, Conn.) competed in the preliminaries of the mile and finished eighth in her heat and 17th overall with a time of 5:06.14.
