Providence, R.I. - Sophomore Charlie Dewey (Worcester, Mass.) has been rewriting the record books ever since he came onto the Providence College campus. Earlier this season, Dewey broke a 55-year old record in the 400 meter. He surpassed the previous mark of 49.5 with a new time of 48.47 on January 27 at the Boston University Terrier Invitational. One week later on February 5, at the Boston University Quad Meet, Dewey set another record. He ran the 500 meter in 103.94. This past weekend was no different for the sophomore phenom as he broke his own record in the 500. At the BIG EAST Championships in Akron, Ohio, Dewey ran the 500 prelims in 1:03.60. He then finished seventh in the finals in a time of 1:03.84.
