Men's Outdoor Track Finish 11th At BIG EAST Track And Field Championships

The Providence College men's outdoor track team competed at the 2002 BIG EAST Outdoor Track and Field Championship at the George J. Sherman Family-Sports Complex in Storrs, Connecticut, on May 3-5.  The Friars finished 11th out of 14 teams with 26 points.

Senior Dermot Galvin (Kilrush, Ireland) led all Friar scorers with a second-place finish in the 10,000-meter run, with a time of 29:52.20. Freshman Patrick Moulton finished seventh in the 10,000 meters, in a time of 31:03.57. Galvin and Moulton qualified for the IC4A Championship in the event with their respective times.

Freshman Patrick Guidera (Clonmel, Ireland) placed eighth and qualified for the IC4A Championship in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, with a time of 9:12.24.

In the men's 1,500-meter run, freshmen Dylan Wykes (Kingston, Ontario) and Liam Reale (Hospital, Ireland) finished fifth (3:47.35) and eighth (3:48.59), respectively. Both runners qualified for the IC4A Championship with their times in the event.

Rounding out the men's participants were junior Adam Sutton (Preston England), senior Paul Reilly (Loughrea, Ireland) and junior Tyler McCabe (Mystic, Conn.), in the 5,000-meter run. Sutton finished third (14:08.55) and Reilly finished fifth (14:29.80). Both Sutton and Reilly qualified for the IC4A Championships. McCabe placed 12th (14:52.04).
