PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- The Friar men's track team ran its final race at the Penn Relays on Saturday, April 29. PC's 4 x mile team of sophomore Max Smith (Dunedin, New Zealand), senior Martin Fagan (Mullingar, Ireland), senior Richard Jones (Wellington, New Zealand) and sophomore Ahmed Haji (West Hartford, Conn.) placed fourth in a time of 16:22.87. The race was won by a team from Arkansas. The Friars came within two seconds of breaking the Providence record for the 4 x mile (16:20.90) which was set in 1977 in Des Moines, Iowa by Michael Byrne, John Savoie, Peter Crooke, and Mick O'Shea.

The Friar men's and women's track teams will return to action on May 6-7 at the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships at UConn.
