COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Sophomore David McCarthy (Waterford, Ireland) and Junior Hayden McLaren (Christchurch, New Zealand) place fourth and fifth respectively in the final of the mile at the NCAA Championship at Texas A&M University on Saturday March, 14 2009.

McCarthy and McLaren crossed the finish line of the NCAA mile side-by-side just as they have all season long, running 4:02.24 and 4:02.51 respectively. McCarthy closed the race strong but was unable to catch New Mexico's Lee Emanuel, who won the race in a time of 4:00.36. McCarthy and McLaren conclude their amazing indoor track seasons, which was highlighted with a sub-four mile earlier this season at the Boston University Valentine Invitational.

McCarthy and McLaren will look towards the spring season and hope to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The next race for the men's team is Saturday March, 28 at the Bryant Invitational at Bryant University.
