SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The Providence College men's indoor track team competed at the BIG EAST Indoor Track & Field Championship at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, N.Y. on February 22-23.

In the 800-meter run, sophomore Liam Reale (Hospital, Ireland) finished third in a time of 1:52.73 and qualified for the IC4A Championship, which will be held on March 8-9 in Boston, Mass. In the 3,000 meters the Friars had four runners finish in the top 15, led by sophomore Dylan Wykes (Kingston, Ont.), who finished fifth in a time of 8:23.53. Freshman Martin Fagan (Mullingar, Ireland) placed eighth in the 3,000 meters in a time of 8:28.24. Both Wykes and Fagan qualified for the IC4A's.

Senior Tyler McCabe (Mystic, Conn.) recorded a second-place finish in the 5,000 meter run in a time of 14:31.10. Graduate student Paul Reilly (Loughrea, Ireland) took fourth-place in a time of 14:39.02, while junior Jamie Carmichael (Windsor, Vt.) finished seventh in a time of 14:48.73. McCabe, Reilly and Carmichael also qualified for the IC4A's. In the 4X800 meter relay, the quartet of freshman Richard Jones (Wellington, New Zealand), Reale, sophomore Tom Geer (Glastonbury, Conn.) and Reilly took fifth-place in a time of 7:42.45 to qualify for the IC4A's. The distance medley relay team of Wykes, freshman Dan Robb (Newton, Mass.), Jones and Fagan placed fifth in a time of 10:07.22 to qualify for the IC4A's. The Friars return to action on Friday, February 28 at the New England Championship in Boston, Mass.
