Men's Indoor Track Competes At Seven-Way Meet

BOSTON, Mass. -- The Providence College men's indoor track team competed at the Seven-Way Meet at Boston University on Saturday, February 5. Liam Reale (Hospital, Ireland) and Darren Brown (Spring, Texas) were the top two collegiate finishers in the mile. Reale ran a time of 4:01.53 and finished second overall, while Brown recorded a time of 4:03.73 to place third overall. Reale and Brown qualified provisionally for the NCAA's. Nick Weidman (Sudbury, Mass.) took fifth-place in the mile in a time of 4:14.15 as he qualified for the BIG EAST Indoor Track Championships. Richard Jones (Wellington, New Zealand) won the 1,000 meters in a time of 2:29.20 to qualify for the BIG EAST Championships. In the 3,000 meters, Joe Dionne (Oshawa, Ontario) and Max Smith (Dunedin, New Zealand) finished second and third, respectively, while Ben Pollock (Westford, Mass.) took fifth-place. Dionne ran a time of 8:19.55, Smith recorded a time of 8:20.03, while Pollock finished the race in 8:21.25 as each athlete qualified for the BIG EAST Championships. The Friars are back in action on February 11-12 at the St. Valentine's Invitational.
