NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Providence College men's indoor track team competed in its first race of 2005 at the Yale Invitational on Saturday, January 15.

Sophomore Darren Brown (Spring, Texas) led the Friars with a first-place finish in the mile. Brown qualified for the BIG EAST Indoor Championships with his time of 4:11.66. Junior Joe Dionne (Oshawa, Ontario) took third-place in the mile and also qualified for the BIG EAST Championships. Freshman Ahmed Haji (West Hartford, Conn.) finished fourth in a time of 4:20.80.

In the 3,000 meters, senior Ben Pollock (Westford, Mass.) placed fourth in a time of 8:34.23 to qualify for the BIG EAST Championships. In the 800 meters, Matthew Licari (Amityville, N.Y.) finished second in a time of 1:59.64.

The Friars are back in action on Saturday, January 22 at the Terrier Cup at Boston University.
