Men's Track Finishes 3rd of 7 at New England Challenge
New England Challenge Cup at Brown, Providence - Jan. 15, 2000 PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College men's track team scored 44 points and finished third of seven teams at the New England Challenge Cup at Brown University in Providence, R.I. on Saturday, January 15. The Friars were led by sophomore Dermot Galvin (Kilrush, Ireland) and freshman Adam Sutton (Preston, England). Galvin won the mile in a time of 4:17.17 and Sutton captured the 3,000 meters in 8:38.69. Freshman Chris Livesey of Preston, England (second - 800 meters) and junior Ciaran Lynch of Limerick, Ireland (second - 3,000 meters) also ran strong races for the Friars. PC's 4 x 800 meter relay team and the distance medley team each earned a first-place finish. The 4 x 800 team won in a time of 7:55.12 and the distance medley squad finished first in a time of 10:34.51. TEAM RESULTS: 1. UConn 161.50, 2. Brown 86.50, 3. Providence 44, 4. Holy Cross 24, 5. Central Conn. 22, 6. Sacred Heart 10, 7. Quinnipiac 8.
