NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Providence College men's indoor track team opened the 2003-04 season by competing at the Yale Invitational on Saturday, January 10 in New Haven, Conn.

The Friars had two individual first-place finishes. Freshman Darren Brown (Spring, Texas) placed first in the mile run as he recorded a time of 4:20.08, while junior Ben Pollock (Westford, Mass.) finished first in the 3,000 meters, recording a time of 8:43.49. The Providence distance medley relay team of juniors Dylan Wykes (Kingston, Ont.) and Liam Reale (Hospital, Ireland), freshman Edward Kennedy (Bolton, Conn.) and sophomore Martin Fagan (Mullingar, Ireland) also placed first in a time of 10:05.80, which was nearly eight seconds ahead of the closest competitor. The time of 10:05.80 qualified for the IC4A and BIG EAST Championships.

The Friars return to competition on Saturday, January 17 at the Brown Invitational.
