Joining Ray Treacy for his sixth season as an assistant coach is former Friar standout, Andy Ronan. A 1986 graduate of the College, Ronan brings outstanding credentials to the position. A gifted distance runner in his own right, Ronan was among the first All-Americans produced by Treacy as he took All-America honors in cross country during the 1984 and 1986 seasons.

A native of Wexford, Ireland, Ronan has four BIG EAST titles to his credit. In 1984 he won the 5,000 meters indoors. A year later, he captured the 10,000 meter outdoor championship and then capped a brilliant senior year (1986) by winning the same two championships for the second time. Since graduating, Ronan made a name for himself as a marathon runner. Among his accomplishments are finishing third in the 1991 Boston Marathon (2:11:27) and fourth at the 1989 Twin Cities Marathon (2:13:49). Also, he represented his native Ireland in the Marathon at the Barcelona Olympics. In addition to his coaching duties at Providence, Ronan serves as a coach for the Central Mass Striders. He has several former Friars currently running under his tutelage.

Besides receiving his Bachelor's Degree from Providence, Ronan also has a Master's Degree in business from Providence College. He assists Treacy in all aspects of the Friars' track and cross country programs.
