Providence Swimmers Lose to Massachusetts
Men fall 152-90, Women lose 179-63
PROVIDENCE, RI --The Providence College swim teams fell to the University of Massachusetts this afternoon in Amherst, MA. The men lost 152-90, while the women lost 179-63.
The men's squad was led by Jed Michnowicz (Santa Clara, CA) who won three events for the Friars. He took first place honors in the 1000 Free (10:00.80), 500 Free (4:44.99) and 200 Free (1:44.96). Senior captain Steve Brown (Sacramento, CA) took two first place victories. Brown won the 200 Fly (2:01.52) and 200 IM (2:00.58). Junior Sean Connell won the 200 Back (1:59.93).
For the Lady Friars, the 200 Free Relay team of Guerin Anglim, Michelle Hackmer, Kathleen Kelley and Carla Clemente won with a time of 1:41.58. Six other Friars earned second place honors.
The Friars both fall to 0-2 on the season.
