PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's swimming and diving team was defeated by Fairfield University, 140-93, in PC's home opener on Saturday, November 2 in Providence, R.I.

Junior Patrick Kavanagh (Newburgh, N.Y.) earned first-place finishes in the 800 meter freestyle with a time of 9:47.20. He also placed first in the 400 meter freestyle in a time of 4:36.98.

Also taking top honors in his respective event for the Friars was junior Bryan Flynn (Middletown, R.I.). Flynn paced the 100 meter backstroke event, finishing in a time of 1:03.43.

The Friars fall to 0-2 on the season and will host Loyola on November 9 in Providence, R.I. The diving portion of the meet will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by the swim events at 1:00 p.m.
