PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's and women's swimming teams were defeated at the University of Connecticut in a dual meet on October 25 at Storrs. The men were defeated, 175-66, and the women lost, 178-51.

The Friars were led by the performances of senior Lori Cosman (Newburgh, N.Y.), who won the 100 meter freestyle in 1:02.76, and finished second in the 200m intermediate medley in 2:37.01. Cosman also swam the first leg of Providence's winning 200 meter freestyle relay. Joining Cosman on the victorious relay team were sophomore Kate Fuller (Staten Island, N.Y.), senior Maggie Singler (Maplewood, N.J.) and freshman Kathryn Donovan (Simi Valley, Calif.).

On the men's side, senior Michael Frenza (Watertown, Conn.) turned in a strong performance, finishing third in the 200 meter individual medley and finishing fourth in the 400 meter freestyle. Frenza also swam the first leg of the Providence 200 meter freestyle relay, which finished second. Also on the relay squad was sophomore Mike Bien (North Reading, Mass.), freshman Patrick Kavanagh (Newburgh, N.Y.) and senior Matthew Donahue (Seekonk, Mass.).

The Providence men's and women's swim teams return to action on Saturday, November 4th at Taylor Natatorium when the Friars host Fairfield University.
