    BURLINGTON, VT. - The Providence College men's and women's swimming teams traveled to the University of Vermont on Saturday, January 27 to compete in their final regular season meet. The women competed against Vermont and were defeated 176-108. The men competed against Norwich and won 147-119. On the women's side, there were several top finishes. Senior Annie Nemeth (Pittsburgh, R.I.) placed first in the 100 yard breaststroke and the 200 yard IM in times of 1:09.35 and 2:15.01, respectively. Senior Katelyn Flynn (Sinking Spring, Pa.) placed first in the 200 yard butterfly in a time of 2:10.79. Sophomore Blair Flynn (Middletown, R.I.) took first in the 50 yard freestyle in 25.88. The 400 yard freestyle relay composed of freshman Carrie Lamb (New Paltz, N.Y), freshman Patricia Osmolak (Harmony, Ill.), freshman Marie-Louise Winther (Upton, Mass.), and Blair Flynn came in first, finishing in a time of 3:53.26. In their win over Norwich, the men had many first place finishes. The 400 yard medley relay team composed of sophomore Ryan Clark (Taunton, Mass.), junior Chris Luft (Cheshire, Conn.), freshman Matt Card (Bow, N.H.), and freshman Dave Wilson (Chelmsford, Mass.) took first in a time of 3:50.06. Senior Brian Confrey (Glastonbury, Conn.) placed first in the 1000 yard freestyle in a time of 10:45.12. Clark took first in the 200 yard backstroke in 2:03.85 and Card took first in the 100 yard butterfly in 54.23. Senior Tom McLoughlin (Leonardo, N.J.) took first in 200 yard freestyle (1:50.33) and Luft took first in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:05.77) and 200 yard breaststroke (2:25.39). Freshman Tim Reilly (Floral Park, N.Y.) took the win in the 200 yard butterfly (2:04.77) and sophomore Justin Rich (Branford, Conn.) took the win in the 50 yard freestyle (23.37). Sophomore PJ McGovern (Chevy Chase, Md.) placed first in both the one meter and three meter diving events with scores of 111.68 and 119.69, respectively. Junior David Kerley (Hopkinton, Mass.) finished first in the 500 yard freestyle in 5:10.17. These two meets mark the completion of the 2006-07 regular season for the Providence College swimming & diving teams. The men's team finishes the season with a 5-4 record and the women's team finishes with a 4-4 record. Members of the teams will be competing in the BIG EAST Championship in East Meadow, N.Y. on February 14-16.
