The Providence College men's and women's swimming and diving teams were defeated at Loyola College of Baltimore on Friday, January 25th. The Friar women were defeated 138-105 while the men were defeated 124-78.

The two Providence teams combined to win seven events, with senior Allison Buckley (Chelmsford, Mass.) the only multiple event winner.

Buckley paced the women's team by winning the 200 yard freestyle, finishing the event in 2:01.48 for the Friars. She also finished first in the 500 yard freestyle, completing the event in 5:22.21. Other event winners for the PC women were: senior Lee Barnum (Hyde Park, N.Y.), who won the 100 yard butterfly in 1:02.07, junior Kate Fuller (Staten Island, N.Y.), who won the 50 yard freestyle in 25.64, and sophomore Kathryn Donovan (Simi Valley, Calif.), who won the 1,000 yard freestyle in 10:58.29.

On the men's side, just two members of the Friars' men's team won individual events, as senior Mike Maloney (Plainville, Mass.) and junior Tom Darrow (Cranston, R.I.) claimed titles. Maloney won the men's one meter diving event, scoring 158.18 points for the victory. Darrow won the 500 yard freestyle, completing the event in 5:34.05.
