PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College men's swimming and diving team was defeated by the University of Maine on Saturday, January 19th at PC's Taylor Natatorium. The Friars were defeated 177-98.

Providence sophomore Patrick Kavanagh (Newburgh, N.Y.) paced PC by winning three individual events. His wins came in the 100 meter freestyle (56.0), the 200 meter freestyle (2:03.66) and in the 400 meter freestyle (4:27.39). Junior Tom Darrow (Cranston, R.I.) won the 200 meter backstroke for the Friars, finishing in 2:24.76. Sophomore Bryan Flynn (Middletown, R.I.) won the 100 meter backstroke for PC, finishing in 1:04.59.

The men's swimming and diving team will return to action on Friday, January 25 when they travel to Loyola College in Baltimore for a 6:00 p.m. meet.
