Men's And Women's Swimming And Diving Defeated By Maine
Jan. 20, 2001 ORONO, Maine -- The Providence College men's and women's swimming and diving teams were defeated at the University of Maine on Saturday, January 20th. The women's team fell to the Black Bears, 152-147, and the men were defeated, 169-117. The Friars were led by senior Lori Cosman (Newburgh, N.Y.), who finished first in the 100 yard free and the 200 yard free. She also placed second in the 50 yard free and was a member of the winning 200 yard free relay. The men were led by sophomore Tom Darrow (Cranston, R.I.), who won the 100 yard backstroke, the 200 yard backstroke and the 200 yard IM. Other individual event winners for the Friars were: junior Lee Barnum (Hyde Park, N.Y.), who won the women's 200 yard butterfly and the 200 yard IM, sophomore Mike Bien (North Reading, Mass.), who won the men's 50 yard free, sophomore Amanda Pymm (Port Washington, N.Y.), who won the one meter diving and the three meter diving, senior Adam Letourneau (Milford, Mass.) won the men's one meter diving, freshman Katheryn Donovan (Simi Valley, Calif.) won the 500 yard freestyle, senior Maggie Singler (Maplewood, N.J.) won the 100 yard fly, and the PC women's 200 yard free relay team. The Providence swimming and diving team return to action against Georgetown University on January 27th in PC's Taylor Natatorium. |
