On Tuesday (Dec. 11), Major League Soccer (MLS) named Friar midfielder Marc Cintron (Piscataway, N.J.) as one of 54 seniors invited to the 2013 adidas MLS Player Combine, scheduled to begin on Jan. 11, 2013.
Cintron started 69 matches while scoring eight goals and notching 20 assists for 36 career points with Providence. His 20 assists rank fifth in program history. A 2012 M.A.C. Hermann Trophy Watch List nominee, he was a 2011 NSCAA All-Northeast Region First Team Honoree and also earned All-BIG EAST Third Team honors last year. He played an integral role in Providence’s run to the BIG EAST Championship game in 2010 and also assisted on the game-winning goal versus Dartmouth in 2011 NCAA Championship first round play.
Cintron was one of 11 BIG EAST athletes named to the camp, joining players from Connecticut (1), Georgetown (3), Louisville (2), Notre Dame (2) and USF (2). Following the combine, the MLS SuperDraft will take place on Jan. 17, 2013.
