Men's Soccer seniors Wilder Arboleda (Pawtucket. R.I.), Anthony Baumann (Spring Hill, Fla.), George Hodge (Dartmouth, Mass.) and Phil Ziegler (East Lyme, Conn.) have been selected to play in the 2012 NEISL All-Star game on Sunday, Dec. 1 at Harvard University's Soldiers Field Soccer Stadium.
Arboleda played in 16 games in his final year with the Friars, scoring four goals and adding an assist for nine points. He scored a goal and added an assist in Providence’s 2-1 BIG EAST Quarterfinal win over Creighton and was named to the 2013 BIG EAST All-Tournament Team (Nov. 17). He was also named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll (Sept. 2). A 2012 NCAA Division I Men's All-Northeast Region Third Team honoree (NSCAA) and a 2012 All-BIG EAST Third Team selection, Arboleda finished tied for 10th in program history with 18 career goals.
Baumann played in all 22 games as a senior, totaling four goals and two assists for 10 points. All four of his goals came from the penalty spot as he went four-for-four this season. He was the team’s second-leading scorer and was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week (Oct. 7), to the Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week (Oct. 8) and was twice named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll (Sept. 16 and Nov. 11).
Hodge made 12 appearances on the Friar backline as a senior, including important postseason stints in in the BIG EAST Semifinals and Championship as well as playing in both of Providence’s NCAA contests. A 2012-13 BIG EAST All-Academic Team honoree, Hodge notched his only career point with an assist against Saint Peters in 2010 NCAA Championship first round play (Nov. 18, 2010).
Ziegler played in 21 games as a senior and scored the game-tying goal in Providence’s come from behind win at Rhode Island (Sept. 13). A 2012-13 BIG EAST All-Academic Team honoree, Ziegler finished his Friar career with a goal and an assist.
