Steeves and DePerro Collect All-BIG EAST Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – It was announced today (Nov. 3) that Mac Steeves (Needham, Mass.) and Matt DePerro (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) of the Providence College men’s soccer team were named to BIG EAST All-Conference teams.

Steeves, who garnered All-BIG EAST First team honors for the second time in his career, led the Friars’ offense during the regular season. He scored eight goals and tallied three assists for 19 points. He ranks fourth in the BIG EAST in both goals scored and total points. This season, Steeves moved into second place in both career goals and points at Providence. He has 35 career goals and 82 career points. He sits behind John Farren on both leaderboards.

With this award, Steeves has now been named to All-BIG East teams five times. He is a two-time First Team selection and a two-time All-Preseason selection. He also earned Second Team honors once.

DePerro played in 16 regular season games for the Friars, making six starts. The redshirt freshman scored three goals and tallied an assist for seven points in his first campaign for the Friars. He is currently second on the team in goals scored and third in points. His first career goal came on Oct. 11 in a win over cross-town rival Brown. DePerro also tallied one game-winning goal this season in a 2-1 road victory against Villanova (Oct. 28).

The Friars enter the BIG EAST Tournament as the No. 5 seed. Providence kicks off at No. 4 Xavier on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 7:00 p.m.
