Men's Soccer Prepares for BIG EAST Game against BC on Wednesday
October 27, 1998 PROVIDENCE, R.I. - BOSTON COLLEGE AT PROVIDENCE COLLEGE Wednesday, October 28 - 2:30 p.m. at Glay Field Boston College (5-8-2) - Boston College is in 10th place in BIG EAST league standings with a 2-6-1 mark ... Last week, the Eagles were defeated by Notre Dame, 3-0 ... Boston College has recorded a 13-11-6 mark all-time against the Friars. Last year, the Eagles defeated PC, 2-0, in Chestnut Hill, Mass. The two teams first met in 1970 and the Friars defeated the Eagles, 2-0 ... Sophomore forward Kevin Boyd (Del Mar, Ca.) leads the Eagles in scoring with three goals and two assists in 15 games.
Providence College (7-8) - The Friars enter Wednesday's game in fifth place in BIG EAST standings with a 5-4 record. The Friars have qualified for the BIG EAST Playoffs for the first time since 1987 and are trying to be one of four teams to earn home field advantage for the Quarterfinals on Nov. 7-8 ... Last week, PC defeated Notre Dame (2-1) and upset 11th-ranked Georgetown (2-1) ... The Friars have recorded a 5-2 record in home games this season ... PC will be trying to earn its first win against Boston College since 1992 ... Providence sophomore Kevin Jones (Westford, Mass.) leads the team in scoring with 18 points (eight goals, two assists) in 15 games.
