Men's Soccer Plays At Pittsburgh On Tuesday Night

PROVIDENCE HITS THE ROAD FOR TWO MATCHES... Providence College will play two BIG EAST Conference road matches this week beginning with a crucial game against Pittsburgh on Tuesday, October 18 at 7:00 p.m.

WHAT'S NEXT... Following the match at Pitt, PC will take a 75-mile bus ride south to Morgantown to face the West Virginia Mountaineers on Friday, October 21 in a match that will air live on FOX Soccer Channel.

FRIARS DEFEAT SETON HALL... Providence scored three goals in each half en route to a 6-1 victory over Seton Hall Saturday afternoon at Glay Field. Sophomore Greg Davis (Jamaica, N.Y.) scored a career-high three goals, while freshman Marcos Ugarte (Providence, R.I.) added one goal and two assists to lead the Friars. Junior Keith Jecewiz (Smithtown, N.Y.) and Daniel Fabian (Southbury, Conn.) also scored for the Friars, who improved to 5-2 at Glay Field. Providence recorded its highest goal output since November 18, 2010 in a 6-2 win over Saint Peter's in the NCAA Championship First Round.

SERIES HISTORY VERSUS PITTSBURGH... The Friars are 12-8-1 all-time against Pittsburgh, including six consecutive wins. Last season, the Friars posted a 2-1 in Providence. In 2009, the Friars defeated the Panthers, 3-0, in Indianola, Pa. as Daniel Fabian scored two goals to lead the way. Pittsburgh's last win over Providence was in 2004 as the Panthers prevailed, 2-0, at home.



DAVIS SCORES HAT TRICK... Greg Davis recorded his first career hat trick on October 15 against Seton Hall. Davis is the first Friar to score three goals in a match since Eoin Lynch did it on September 2, 2005 as Providence defeated Maine, 4-1.

FRESHMAN CLASS MAKING IMPACT... The Friar freshman class has made a strong impact on this season's team. Four rookies are regular starters, including Marcos Ugarte who is second on the team with four goals and tied for first with 11 points. In addition, Jimmy Petruccelli (Brentwood, N.H.) has one goal and three assists for five points. Brandon Adler (Montville, N.J.) has started every match at center back, Fazal Nabi (Portland, Maine) has started nine games at midfield, while Thomas Ballenthin (Lexington, Mass.) has nine starts at left back.
