Men's Soccer To Host UConn On Wednesday At 3:30 PM
MEN'S SOCCER vs. UCONN - Wednesday, September 29 - 3:30 p.m. at Glay Field University of Connecticut (5-2, 2-0) - The nationally ranked UConn Huskies enter Wednesday's game with a three game winning streak, which has featured victories against 8th ranked Yale (5-0) and 10th ranked St. John's (3-0) ... UConn has recorded a 20-3-2 mark all-time against the Friars. The Huskies last win against the Friars at PC's Glay Field was a 2-0 victory in 1995. Last year, UConn won the BIG EAST regular season title with a 9-2-0 league mark ... The Huskies will be led on offense by junior Edwin Rivera (Katy, Texas), who has registered 10 points (five goals) this season. Senior Matt Chavlovich (Metuchen, N.J.) has been the team's top goalkeeper in 1999. He has recorded a .730 goals against average and a .782 save percentage.
Providence College (3-3-1, 2-2) - The Friars' posted a 1-2 record last week, which included a 4-1 win at Villanova ... Wednesday's game will be PC's second home game this season and first since Sept. 7 ... The Friars are undefeated in their last six home games (5-0-1) ... Last season, UConn defeated PC, 3-0, in Storrs, Conn. The Friars last win against the Huskies was a 2-1 overtime victory in 1997 at Glay Field ... Junior forward Kevin Jones (Westford, Mass.) leads the team in scoring with 10 points (four goals, two assists). Sophomore goalkeeper Danny Glynn (Manchester, England) should start in net for the Friars. This season, he has posted a 2-3-0 mark, a 2.00 goals against average and a .686 save percentage.
