Men's Soccer Ranked In College Soccer News Poll For Fourth Consecutive Week

PC is ranked No. 29 in the College Soccer News top-30 national poll.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -

The Providence College men's soccer team is ranked No. 29 in the College Soccer News top-30 national poll which was released on September 26. Connecticut remained at No. 1, while, Maryland, North Carolina, Creighton and Indiana are second, third, fourth and fifth, respectively.

The Friars defeated Cincinnati, 2-0, in the BIG EAST Conference opener on September 24 at Glay Field. Freshman Marcos Ugarte (Providence, R.I.) gave the Friars a 1-0 lead in the 62nd minute with his first collegiate goal as classmate Jimmy Petruccelli (Brentwood, N.H.) assisted on the goal. Ugarte struck again three minutes later with his second goal after a cross from senior David Datilus (Linden, N.J.). Senior co-captain Jhojan Obando (Kissimmee, Fla.) made two saves to earn his fifth shutout of the season.

The Friars are back in action on Saturday, October 1 when they face USF in Tampa, Fla.
